  1. I think Susan Cole is an Idiot!!! Did she says students are made to sign agreement that they won't offend minorities before they can attend the University????? If that is true then that is a crime in my opinion and needs to be stopped!!!

  3. This isn't about freedom of speech it's political theater. Coulter incites hatred against Muslims and, at a Canadian University, ALL students (even Muslims) have the right to learn in a safe environment.

Everyone signs an agreement to provide & contribute to a safe learning environment for all students. That is one of the many things that make Canada great and morally superior to the U.S.

She could have held her speech off campus and there would be no issue -but that would have been less provocative.

This was a great day for free speech. The students made their voices heard loud and clear. Coulter's homophobic, racist "humour" is unwelcome on THEIR campus. The students had a right to protest her arrival and they shouted her down. THAT'S free speech! Her supporters were outnumbered and chose to shut the speech down -out of cowardice.

There was NO violence, there was no danger. A few hundred people yelled and she ran away and, from the safety of her limo said that "Canadians have lost their edge." SHE'S a chicken-shit. When her words backfire and the hate is directed toward her it's called a "dark day for free speech." What a hypocritical load of crap.

And the Conservatives need to stop sniveling about being "picked on." Liberal politician George Galloway wasn't even allowed in the country to give a speech. SO stop bitching about being censored.

The right wing pundits are just sore losers and didn't like seeing freedom of speech come from actual people.

  4. Susan Cole repeatedly said in Canada there was no free speech. She is Canada's scum bag #1.

Anony, George Galloway wasn't allowed into the country because he had donated money to a terrorist group and not to stifle his speech.

  6. Susan Cole is a huge idiot and I'm tired of these people telling me what Canada's traditions are.

Ya,and politicians telling us what we want. Just like Cole, they don't speak for me.

  7. Anony @ 4:57 says:
"Coulter incites hatred against Muslims "
No, that incitement would be cuased by a bunch of guys named "Mo" that keep doing things that cause people concern, like FLYING AIRPLANES INTO BUILDINGS.
    Anony says:
"That is one of the many things that make Canada great and morally superior to the U.S."
That statement has to be the most small-minded, provincial, myopic, sanctimonious and just plain WRONG thing I have seen on the web in the past week.
Anony spends 2 paragraphs blathering on about "a great day for free speech".
No, that was MOB RULE. Free Speech involves a give and take of ideas, along with respect for the right of EVERYONE to speak, not just the screaming mob.
Presumably if the POLICE decided to cancel the event, as was reported in the news, then it can not be considered that there " was NO violence, there was no danger".
In other words, Anony was, as all libs are, not Right :)
Oh, and Susan Cole - stop hiding behind a document that you obviously are too lazy to have read. Free speech is enumerated as one of the “Fundamental freedoms” in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Link to Federal Government site for the document here: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/charter/1.html - it’s on the first page.)

    Cheers,
    Another Sean
