Good News for GOP; Good News for America?

2010 looks like it could be some good news for the GOP. They could be set to make a comeback in the midterm elections in November.

One thing though, if they truly want to win back both the House and the Senate, they need to recruit real true Republican conservatives that believe in the Constitution and are willing to adhere to it. I think the time is ripe for that kind of candidate, those that believe in small government, low taxes, individual freedom.

If they stick with the so called moderates, which most of them are in the GOP right now, they ain't goin' anywhere. The sense I have in watching the tea party rallies and the townhalls last summer, is that the average American voter is not happy with either the Democrats or the Republicans (in their current state).

Something is going to have to give, either the Republican Party becomes more conservative or voters are going turn to a third party or they could just stay home.

It will be interesting to watch what happens with our neighbors to the south.

Gobal Warming or Hot Air

I don't know if any of you caught it but Foxnews aired a very good special on global warming I thought I would share the videos if you didn't see it. Very good info into what is going on. Features our own Steve McIntyre and Ross McKittrick. Oh, Bob Rae's Uncle Mo is in it too. Enjoy.

An Interesting Take on Prorogation

I had never thought about this angle on the prorogation situation. It does make a lot of sense. Makes more sense than running away from detainee issue. So it looks like, maybe, the PM has thrown the ball back in Iffy's court. If this is the case, brilliant! (h/t) Bruce Anderson, Globe and Mail

"M
r. Harper yesterday put the Liberals on notice that they must either accept that his government will act as though it has a majority, or be prepared to drop the government on the next budget. This only hours after Mr. Ignatieff felt obliged in year end interviews to stand down from his strategy of election mongering that had squandered so much of his credibility last year.

Either outcome would probably be satisfactory or better in the mind of the Prime Minister. An election sooner rather than later against Mr. Ignatieff, who is suffering in personal popularity assessments. If not, then the chance to lay down a comprehensive economic and deficit reduction plan that the Liberals would feel obliged to support, and presumably then a clear field on other policy agenda items.

In a different time, this move by the government would have meant that it was on the defensive today, absorbing heavy blows and losing votes.

Instead, its a warning shot to Mr. Ignatieff. He has weeks to articulate the alternative that he wants Canadians to consider, and to make a much more effective case as to why voters should want change. If he does not use these weeks to build strength, his 2010 may not be much better than his 2009."

Happy New Year

I want to wish all a Happy New Year. I hope each one has a blessed and prosperous 2010.

What will 2010 bring? Will we see and elelction, who knows?
Will we once again see "scandal of the week?" I think the public is sick and tired of them. I am.

Conservatives will have a majority in the Senate, long overdue. The economy will continue to improve. PM Harper and his government will continue (despite the antics of the opposition and the MSM) to govern in the best interests of the Canadian people. He will be hosting the G8 and G20 summits next summer. He is always ten steps ahead of the opposition and the media. That's why we always see faux outrages, he out foxes every last one of them.

The Liberals will continue to have internal problems. They haven't gotten it yet. Dumping Iffy is not going to fix their troubles. Their problem is that they are still arrogant and have that sense of entitlement. Until they recognize that and do something about it, they aren't going to move forward in meaningful way that will attract voters their way. You see leadership is not really the problem. Iffy is not much of a leader but it wouldn't matter who they had right now. They could also apologize for stealing our money through adscam and start paying some restitution toward that. Might help.

I think Jack Layton will keep looking out for Jack Layton. He will do or say whatever he has to to keep his job. I don't think if there is another election and he doesn't improve the Dippers standings he will be around as leader. I see Thomas Mulcair possibly taking over as Dipper boss if that happens.

Gilles is Gilles. He'll see to it that the Blocheads get their pensions and demand more money for Quebec.

On the world scene there's lot's brewing. Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, North Korea, Israel etc. Unfortunately, we'll probably keep hearing of more terror threats too.

In the US they still have the Obamacare bill on the burner, still spending the country into oblivion, and they have their Cap and Trade bill on the agenda too. I don't think that is going to anywhere.
Midterm elections are coming up in November. I think you'll see a surge in Republicans getting elected and a lot of Democrats losing their seats.

The UK has an election too, in late spring and the British Conservatives will win decisively.

Tiger Woods? That's his business.

Don't forget the Olympics. I hope Canada does well and wins a lot of medals. Go Canada go! I'm sure a good time will be had by all.

Put on your seatbelts, I'm sure 201o will be quite a ride.

Once again, Happy New Year, ya all!

Liberal Hypocrisy Again

Oh, the feigned outrage and accusations of abuse of Afghan detainees against our troops and our government.

The Torch (BTW, a very good blog) calls the Liberals out on the detainee issue. Apparently back when they were in government, they were warned too of abuse by diplomats.

"Predate: More from Radio-Canada in April 2007 (via an acute observer):
Prisonniers afghans torturés
Une pratique déjà connue
Google translation:
The former Liberal government had been accused by Canadian diplomats in Kabul in 2003, 2004 and 2005 that torture was commonplace in Afghan prisons.

A report in 2004 the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and obtained by The News reveals that "the surveillance reports of the Independent Commission of Human Rights in Afghanistan indicate that torture remains a common practice for police officers, including the 'stage of the investigation. This measure is used to obtain confessions from detainees. "

In 2005, another report shows that military, police and intelligence services are involved in arbitrary arrests, kidnappings, extortion cases, cases of torture and killings of individuals suspected of having committed crimes. The paper also reported cases of rapes of women, girls and boys by the police commanders and their troops.

An agreement still

Despite warnings from Canadian diplomats, the Paul Martin government has nonetheless signed an agreement with the Afghan government in December 2005, to deliver to the Afghan authorities and non-Americans to all prisoners captured by Canadian soldiers.

In the wake of the controversy surrounding alleged mistreatment of detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo, and torture of prisoners by U.S. soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, that Canada had taken this decision."

Where is the MSM on this? Have they forgotten? Are they lazy? Or do they want this kept buried so that only the Conservative government is embarrassed?

I think too PM Harper and Minister Mackay needs to call the Libs on this. Where are you? Inform the public, please.

This will eventually come back to bite the Liberals in the butt. They better be awfully careful in their outrage and accusations. This will get out, one way or another.
