PARLIAMENT HILL—The first nationwide opinion poll on back-to-work legislation for postal workers puts the NDP on the hot seat, with 70 per cent of Canadians supporting the measure.I'm not surprised by this. NDP supports CUPW because unions are a big part of the NDP base and you don't want to do anything to tick them off They supported CAW in the Air Canada strike too.
But the poll taken Monday of 2,354 Canadians found that despite overwhelming support for the federal government’s bill to legislate an end the dispute, two-thirds of the respondents also opposed privatization of Canada Post.
“I think it puts the NDP in a squeeze,” Forum Research pollster Lorne Bozinoff told The Hill Times on Tuesday morning as MPs began debating Bill C-6, which proposes to impose wage settlements on 48,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers that are lower than the last offer from Canada Post.
The NDP seem to be most of the time off side with most Canadians. If last weekend's convention was any indication of a party aiming for the ultimate prize they're not going anywhere soon. They're going to have to develop a sense of common sense. That's where most Canadian are.
So the CUPW essentially holds the Canadian people hostage to further their own designs and the NDP sides with... the CUPW? This is absurd. Could you imagine a real-life situation in which the police sided with the hostage-takers? And these people hope to form the government one day. You are right... those of us opposed to the NDP's policies really have nothing to fear if the NDP continues to side against the Canadian people.
ReplyDeleteCouldyou imagine a real life situation in which the police sided with the hostage takers....uh yeah how about Caledonia.
ReplyDeleteO/T, why hasn't the msm mentioned this- thanks to Bruce P.

frmgrl, had the PM received thousands of dollars from the american tea party, all hell would have broken loose in the msm.
Jen,that's really interesting and yeah if PMSH received even one dime from the tea party or the NRA it would have been top leading news and Conservatives would never here the end of it.
ReplyDeletefrmgrl, Yvon Godin said that he stands by the strikers- yeah right, this shows tons of photos holding hands with the Union strikers.

OTTAWA—New Democrat MPs are finding new ways to travel to the party policy convention in Vancouver this weekend to avoid crossing picket lines during the Air Canada strike.
“We’re going to take other alternatives,” NDP labour critic Yvon Godin (Acadie–Bathurst) said in an interview on Tuesday, adding that rival airline WestJet was the main choice. “The train takes a little bit too long, but we’re not going to fly on Air Canada. We hope it’s resolved before that.”

ReplyDeleteYou're right. NDP are nothing but champagne socialists.
Oh, come on, now na man, this yaking by the NDP 'TRYING' to show their undivided love for the workers is hyprotical. They proved it when they took a westjet instead of driving their cars or walked by so enviro-nuts.
ReplyDeleteLove? for the little workers? my back--.
It is the big union bosses that is holding the NDP feet to the coals.
A while back on radio talk show from Ottawa, I heard a union worker tell the host that they were told by their bosses who they the workers, must vote for which the caller said he didn't as he was told. He voted for the Conservatives.
