Possibly! We all know cuts are coming. Seems like the government is planning to go deeper faster. Good news!
According to John Ivison, MPs gold plated pensions could be on the chopping block too
They need to go through with it and it would be about time. MPs and Senators get much more lavish pensions than anyone in the private sector get. Feel ripped off? You should be. We contribute $5.50 for $1 that MPs and Senators contribute.
The latest numbers show that taxpayers pay $5.50 for every $1 that MPs and senators contributed to their pension plan. Most private schemes call on the employer to contribute $1 for every $1 added by the member.
I can almost hear Lib and NDP heads exploding. Take away their entitlements? Oh heaven forbid! It would set a good example especially with cuts coming to public service pension and old age pension reform. It'll be easier to swallow if MPs and Senators have to suffer too!
PM Harper,Minister Flaherty, Minister Clement, don't be shy. You have your majority now, go for it! After all we MUST get our fiscal house in order and it should include ALL entitlement programs.

What Will 2012 Bring On the Canadian Political Scene?
Well we are now well into a new year. 2012 seems to have come upon us so quickly. It seems like yesterday it was just Jan. 2011 and we were in a minority government situation. Oh well! Time flies I guess when you're having fun. By the way, Happy New Year everyone!
2011 was good for Conservatives,good for NDP until Jack Layton passed away and not so good for the Libs and the Media Party.
So what will the new year bring us? Here's my take.
It should all go well if PM Harper and his strong stable majority government keep doing what they're doing, fulfilling their promises.
They promised to pass the budget that the opposition refused to support last year in early spring-Done
They promised to give marketing freedom to western farmers- Done
They promised to pass their tough on crime bill-Done
They promised to scrap the long gun registry-almost Done
They promised to get rid of political welfare-Done
And something they didn't campaign on but was introduced as a private members bill and that is to scrap Section 13 of the Human Rights Act that is about hate speech.-will be toast
Getting out of Kyoto-Done
Immigration reform-getting it done
All this and not even a year into their four year majority mandate.
The opposition and the media are reeling about the government is actually keeping their promises. Heaven forbid! Let them stew in their own juices,looks good on them.
This is what they should do this year. Lower taxes, cut spending and reduce the size of government, scrap the Indian Act and my goodness sake, privatize the CBC.
Mean time it will fun watching the opposition parties. The NDP will find a new leader, leaving the party fractured. The orange crush gradually will keep fizzling out.
The Libs on the other hand will continue to have a tough time finding relevance. Nobody is listening to them anymore except the Media Party.
The Media Party will continue to campaign against Conservatives while at the same time losing their relevance.

Merry Christmas
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. It seems to be one of the busiest times of the year.
We get caught up with the food, the parties, the shopping, the lights and decorations, the presents, and family and friends. It can get a little chaotic and stressful sometimes but even though all these things are good, it's not what Christmas is all about. In all the business, I encourage you to take a few moments and remember what this season is all about.
Christmas is a time when we celebrate the most important birth in human history, the birth of Jesus Christ, the Ultimate Gift. He was born of a virgin in the most humble surroundings. He was the Son of God, came from His home in heaven and lived as a man. He showed us how to live by showing love and compassion for our fellow man. He encountered the same temptations we do but He did not succumb. He performed many miracles like turning water into wine, healing the sick, setting free those who were oppressed. He was ridiculed, arrested, beaten, shed His blood, died and rose from the dead so that we may live.
So when you're unwrapping your gifts Christmas morning remember that Ultimate Gift. That's the least we can do.

Free At Last! Western Farmers Are Free at Last!
Western farmers are finally free of the CWB after almost 70 years. Bill C-18, the bill to give marketing freedom received royal assent last night.
The GG obviously did not heed Bob Rae's letter not to give royal assent to the bill.
Shortly after the vote, Gov. Gen. David Johnston gave the bill royal assent. Interim Liberal leader Bob Rae and CWB chairman Allen Oberg had both written to Johnston asking him not to give the bill royal assent while the courts are considering the legality of the bill.The CWB has even dropped it's court challenge for an injunction.

This is a Very Merry Christmas for western farmers! They can now sell their wheat and barley to whomever they choose without the government just like their Ontario and Quebec counterparts.
