"CALGARY - The oil and gas industry in Alberta pays higher royalties and taxes than other parts of the country and other jurisdictions around the world, according to Jack Mintz, the head of University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy. In a report released Wednesday, Mintz said the energy industry is effectively taxed higher than other industries in the province after factoring in the royalties. In the report, Mintz advocated harmonized royalty structures."
