Don't Let Our Triple A Rating Fool You

Just as Canada maintains our AAA credit rating, Moody's is threatening to downgrade the US's credit rating.
I wouldn't celebrate.. Even though it seems we're doing OK right now, there are some things we should be aware of.  The feds and most provinces still have a deficit and debt. We  have record household debt  in which one economist says could possibly be the undoing of our economy.

We have an aging population and unfunded liabilities(health care, pensions) and we don't have the money to pay for them.

We are not an island.Depending on what happens, things could change over night. What seems to be a fairly stable economy here in Canada could change in a heart beat. The debt crisis in the US,they could default in four days. They are our largest trading partner and they are in trouble.  As the US economy is slowing  lawmakers can't seem to come to an agreement on the debt ceiling.

No wonder PM Harper says the situation is "very bad."

Global Warming Scientist Under Investigation

Well, well, well, this must make Al Gore, David Suziki, Lizzy May and other global warming alarmists upset.  The scam continues to fall apart.

Well, now Alaska scientist,Charles Monnett who wrote an article that reported polar bears in the Arctic were drowning and dying is on leave and under investigation for guess what?  Yup, for scientific misconduct and integrity issues. (h/t)The Blaze
JUNEAU, Alaska (The Blaze/AP) — A federal wildlife biologist whose observation in 2004 of presumably drowned polar bears in the Arctic helped to galvanize the global warming movement has been placed on administrative leave and is being investigated for scientific misconduct, possibly over the veracity of that article.
The fact is the polar bear is NOT been dying. (h/t) Whattsupwiththat?

Remember one of the pivotal points for the push for global warming in Al Gore's "Inconvient Truth" movie was the demise poor polar bear?  Lord Christopher Monckton apptly debunked.that theory.
Gore says a scientific study shows that polar bears are being killed swimming long distances to find ice that has melted away because of “global warming.” They are not. The study, by Monnett & Gleason (2005), mentioned just four dead bears. They had died in an exceptional storm, with high winds and waves in the Beaufort Sea. The amount of sea ice in the Beaufort Sea has grown over the past 30 years. A report for the World Wide Fund for Nature shows that polar bears, which are warm-blooded, have grown in numbers where temperature has increased, and have become fewer where temperature has fallen. Polar bears evolved from brown bears 200,000 years ago, and survived the last interglacial period, when global temperature was 5 degrees Celsius warmer than the present and there was probably no Arctic ice-cap at all. The real threat to polar bears is not “global warming” but hunting. In 1940, there were just 5,000 polar bears worldwide. Now that hunting is controlled, there are 25,000.

Ms. Kreider says sea-ice “was the lowest ever measured for minimum extent in 2007.” She does not say that the measurements, which are done by satellite, go back only 29 years. She does not say that the North-West Passage, a good proxy for Arctic sea
-ice extent, was open to shipping in 1945, or that Amundsen passed through in a sailing vessel in 1903.
