Happy New Year

I want to wish all a Happy New Year. I hope each one has a blessed and prosperous 2010.

What will 2010 bring? Will we see and elelction, who knows?
Will we once again see "scandal of the week?" I think the public is sick and tired of them. I am.

Conservatives will have a majority in the Senate, long overdue. The economy will continue to improve. PM Harper and his government will continue (despite the antics of the opposition and the MSM) to govern in the best interests of the Canadian people. He will be hosting the G8 and G20 summits next summer. He is always ten steps ahead of the opposition and the media. That's why we always see faux outrages, he out foxes every last one of them.

The Liberals will continue to have internal problems. They haven't gotten it yet. Dumping Iffy is not going to fix their troubles. Their problem is that they are still arrogant and have that sense of entitlement. Until they recognize that and do something about it, they aren't going to move forward in meaningful way that will attract voters their way. You see leadership is not really the problem. Iffy is not much of a leader but it wouldn't matter who they had right now. They could also apologize for stealing our money through adscam and start paying some restitution toward that. Might help.

I think Jack Layton will keep looking out for Jack Layton. He will do or say whatever he has to to keep his job. I don't think if there is another election and he doesn't improve the Dippers standings he will be around as leader. I see Thomas Mulcair possibly taking over as Dipper boss if that happens.

Gilles is Gilles. He'll see to it that the Blocheads get their pensions and demand more money for Quebec.

On the world scene there's lot's brewing. Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, North Korea, Israel etc. Unfortunately, we'll probably keep hearing of more terror threats too.

In the US they still have the Obamacare bill on the burner, still spending the country into oblivion, and they have their Cap and Trade bill on the agenda too. I don't think that is going to anywhere.
Midterm elections are coming up in November. I think you'll see a surge in Republicans getting elected and a lot of Democrats losing their seats.

The UK has an election too, in late spring and the British Conservatives will win decisively.

Tiger Woods? That's his business.

Don't forget the Olympics. I hope Canada does well and wins a lot of medals. Go Canada go! I'm sure a good time will be had by all.

Put on your seatbelts, I'm sure 201o will be quite a ride.

Once again, Happy New Year, ya all!

Liberal Hypocrisy Again

Oh, the feigned outrage and accusations of abuse of Afghan detainees against our troops and our government.

The Torch (BTW, a very good blog) calls the Liberals out on the detainee issue. Apparently back when they were in government, they were warned too of abuse by diplomats.

"Predate: More from Radio-Canada in April 2007 (via an acute observer):
Prisonniers afghans torturés
Une pratique déjà connue
Google translation:
The former Liberal government had been accused by Canadian diplomats in Kabul in 2003, 2004 and 2005 that torture was commonplace in Afghan prisons.

A report in 2004 the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and obtained by The News reveals that "the surveillance reports of the Independent Commission of Human Rights in Afghanistan indicate that torture remains a common practice for police officers, including the 'stage of the investigation. This measure is used to obtain confessions from detainees. "

In 2005, another report shows that military, police and intelligence services are involved in arbitrary arrests, kidnappings, extortion cases, cases of torture and killings of individuals suspected of having committed crimes. The paper also reported cases of rapes of women, girls and boys by the police commanders and their troops.

An agreement still

Despite warnings from Canadian diplomats, the Paul Martin government has nonetheless signed an agreement with the Afghan government in December 2005, to deliver to the Afghan authorities and non-Americans to all prisoners captured by Canadian soldiers.

In the wake of the controversy surrounding alleged mistreatment of detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo, and torture of prisoners by U.S. soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, that Canada had taken this decision."

Where is the MSM on this? Have they forgotten? Are they lazy? Or do they want this kept buried so that only the Conservative government is embarrassed?

I think too PM Harper and Minister Mackay needs to call the Libs on this. Where are you? Inform the public, please.

This will eventually come back to bite the Liberals in the butt. They better be awfully careful in their outrage and accusations. This will get out, one way or another.

A Lefty Utopia

Look at what happens when you allow lefties to take over. This is Detroit. It looks like a third world city. It has been governed by lefties for years. A lefty utopia indeed.

Shutting Detroit Down

I say no thank you to lefties running the show. They wreck things. Your country, your province, your municipality will turn out like Detroit.

Michelle Lang, Calgary Herald Reporter Killed in Afghanistan

Devastating news coming out of Afghanistan tonite. Four of our brave soldiers and a beautiful young reporter for the Calgary Herald was killed today in a roadside bombing. The names of the soldiers have not been released yet but the name of the reporter has been released. Her name is Michelle Lang, a beautiful, reporter for the Herald that wanted to tell the story of the soldiers and what they do.

Her story is here.

I pray that God will comfort her loved ones during this very, very difficult time. I pray the Lord with be with our fallen soldier's loved ones as well.

America's Most Admired Women

Wow! Who would have thought both Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton would be voted as America's most admired women. Sarah, ya. Hillary, hmm....... not so much.

from LA Times

"At the end of the 21st century's first decade, Americans have decided on the women they admire the most -- and their picks might surprise some. (Although probably not if they're looking at these photos.)

One is a woman who once lived in the White House -- Hillary Rodham Clinton. And the other is a woman suspected of harboring ambitions of living there someday -- Sarah Palin.

A Democrat and a Republican. A former senator and a former governor. Two polarizing politicians, both moms, both bestselling authors, both who lost their bids for one of the nation's top elected offices last year.

Are American voters dropping a hint here?

According to a new survey just released by USA Today and the Gallup Poll, the 62-year-old Clinton barely beat out the 45-year-old Palin as the most admired female -- 16% to 15% in a poll of 1,025 adult Americans.

However, because the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points, it's statistically a P-C draw."

Team Canada

Well here we go, the final roster for the men's Olympic Hockey Team was announced this morning.

Here is the list:

Martin Brodeur, Montreal, Que. (New Jersey Devils)

Marc-Andre Fleury, Sorel, Que. (Pittsburgh Penguins

Maybe I'm biased. I admit I'm a Calgary Flames fan so I thought Bowmeister and maybe Phanuef should have made it. Otherwise, this might end up being not a half bad team. After all remember what happened last time? Team Canada blew it!

What do you think? Do you think this is a gold medal winning team? Are there others you think should have made the team? Are you disappointed with any of the choices? What say you?

Mr. Harper's Quiet Wisdom

Copenhagen seems like ages ago but is was just not even two weeks ago. The opposition and the media was screaming how Prime Minister Harper wasn't speaking at the summit and President Obama was yada, yada, yada.

Looks like it was a smart thing to do.

Harper's quiet wisdom at a time of shrillness

Relentlessly hounded by all the usual howling mobs, Mr. Harper proved himself in all of these ways in Copenhagen

'Everyone in the world was beating their chest," Prime Minister Stephen Harper observed, speaking of the Copenhagen global summit in one of his year-end interviews. "I never saw so much grandstanding in my life."

Quite so. In contrast, Mr. Harper was himself never more eloquent than in the three days he spent in Copenhagen - when he said absolutely nothing. Surrounded by a madness of politicians (that is, by the fevered rhetoric of the leadership of 160 countries), tormented by the mendacity of environmentalists (that is, by the absurd naming of Canada, which produces less than 2 per cent of the world's carbon emissions, as Fossil Fuel Country of the Year), Mr. Harper kept his head, a remarkable performance that proved him again - however else he may be judged - an authentic leader."

There's more:

"Mere talking is often dangerous to virtue, as Kipling acknowledges in If. Bloated talking is invariably destructive of it. Simply by keeping his mouth shut in Copenhagen, simply by keeping his own counsel, Mr. Harper - retrospectively - looks like the wisest leader of the Copenhagen bunch. "

Canadian Jewish Vote Leaning Conservative

Liberals can no longer depend on the Jewish vote. Seems like that's getting to be a thing of the past. Jews are now turning to the Conservatives mainly because of the pro-Israel stand that PM Harper and the Conservative government have taken.

Where have all of Canada's Jewish Liberals gone?

"The Conservatives have connected with some Jewish voters, especially those for whom Israel is of prime importance," McGill University political scientist Harold Waller said. "With Israel under unprecedented international pressure, voters who are sensitive to this issue may well choose to reward the Conservatives."

Already, the Conservative overtures have gained some high-profile converts within the Jewish elite. Heather Reisman, a veteran Liberal powerbroker, and Ariella Cotler, wife of prominent Liberal parliamentarian and Jewish communal activist Irwin Cotler, both have swung over to Harper.
"(bet there's some friction at that house)

Christmas Eve Miracle

There are Christmas miracles like this one in Colorado. A double miracle for this family, both Mom and baby doing well.

'Hand of God' Seen in Christmas Eve Revival of Mother, Baby

DENVER — Mike Hermanstorfer was clutching his pregnant wife's hand when her life slipped away in a Colorado hospital on Christmas Eve, and then he cradled his newborn son's limp body seconds after a medical team delivered the baby by Cesarean section.

Minutes later he saw his son come to life in his arms under the feverish attention of doctors, and soon he learned his wife had inexplicably come back to life.

"My legs went out from underneath me," Hermanstorfer said Tuesday. "I had everything in the world taken from me, and in an hour and a half I had everything given to me."

Hermanstorfer's wife, Tracy, went into cardiac arrest and stopped breathing during labor on Thursday, said Dr. Stephanie Martin, a maternal fetal medicine specialist at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, where the Hermanstorfers had gone for the birth of their son.

"She had no signs of life. No heartbeat, no blood pressure, she wasn't breathing," said Martin, who had rushed to Hermanstorfer's room to help. "The baby was, it was basically limp, with a very slow heart rate."

After their miraculous recovery, both mother and the baby, named Coltyn, appear healthy with no signs of problems, Martin said.

She said she cannot explain the mother's cardiac arrest or the recovery.

"We did a thorough evaluation and can't find anything that explains why this happened," she said.

Mike Hermanstorfer credits "the hand of God."

"We are both believers ... but this right here, even a nonbeliever — you explain to me how this happened. There is no other explanation," he said.

Asked about divine intervention, Martin said, "Wherever I can get the help, I'll take it."

Tracy Hermanstorfer, 33, was getting prepped for childbirth at the hospital Thursday morning and her 37-year-old husband was by her side when she began to feel sleepy and laid back in her bed.

"She literally stopped breathing and her heart stopped," her husband said. Pandemonium erupted as doctors and nurses tried to revive her with chest compressions and a breathing tube, but nothing worked.

"I was holding her hand when we realized she was gone," Hermanstorfer said. "My entire life just rolled out."

Doctors told him, "We're going to take your son out now. We have been unable to revive her and we're going to take your son out," he recalled.

After the Cesarean section, some of the team rushed his wife to the operating room while the others attended to Coltyn.

"They hand him to me, he's absolutely lifeless," Hermanstorfer said. The doctors went to work on Coltyn as Hermanstorfer held him, and soon he began to breath.

"His life began in my hands," Hermanstorfer said. "That's a feeling like none other. Life actually began in the palm of my hands."

Martin said Tracy Hermanstorfer's pulse returned even before she was wheeled out of the room and into surgery. She estimates Hermanstorfer had no heartbeat for about four minutes.

Hermanstorfer remembers getting sleepy and closing her eyes in her hospital bed, then awakening in the intensive care unit.

Friends have asked if she saw a light or had other experiences described by others who have survived near-death experiences, but she didn't.

"I just felt like I was asleep," she said.

When doctors told her what happened, "I'm like, 'Holy cow, was it that bad? Wow."'

The Hermanstorfers returned Monday to their home in Security, just outside Colorado Springs about 65 miles south of Denver.

Both Mike and Tracy Hermanstorfer worry that she might have a recurrence. Martin said she can't offer the Hermanstorfers much advice because she doesn't know what caused the original problem.

On Tuesday, the couple celebrated a delayed Christmas with their 3-year-old son Kanyen and Tracy Hermanstorfer's 11-year-old son, Austin, from her previous marriage.

She plans to tell Coltyn about his birth when he's old enough to understand.

"I'll tell him everything ... that he's my miracle baby. That he had a tough time coming into this world, that he's my miracle baby and he's still here with us," she said.

She said Austin is worried and confused but the experience is improving his already-close relationship with Mike Hermanstorfer, his stepfather.

Kanyen doesn't understand much except that doctors had to work on his mom in the hospital, she said. His reaction was, "OK, we got the baby, let's go home now."

God really is alive and still performs miracles!

Ed Has His Head Stuck In The Sand

Premier Ed Stelmach has his head stuck in the sand at the rising fortunes of the new
upstart Wildrose Alliance Party. The Wildrose Alliance is now ahead of Eddy's PCs
in the polls. He's just shrugging it off. But that's just fine with me. That means if he keeps doing this we could very well see a Premier Danielle Smith and a Wildrose Alliance government with some real conservative policies.

Ed could just end up in the opposition benches at this rate or back to the farm. Shuffling the cabinet (deck chairs) is not going to help. The only thing that will help is take the word conservative in Progressive Conservatives and put that to practice and forget the word progressive, maybe even dump it.

For too long, they have been putting the word progressive to practice way too much. Even in the last term of Ralph Klein, he was too progressive. That party is not recognizable as conservative anymore in anyway shape or form.

The polls indicate support is not going to the lefty Swan's Liberals or Mason's NDs, they are turning to the only true conservative party in the province.

I have voted PC in the past but next election I'm afraid I'm going to have to go WAP.

Ed, Danielle is going to give you a run for the money come next election campaign in a couple of years. She and the party will be very well funded and organized by then.

I will be doing my best to help her. Good luck Ed, you're going to need it!

You've Come Along Way, Conservatives

Don Martin in an interesting piece talks about how far the Conservatives have come since 2000. From the time when Stockwell Day became the leader of the Alliance, to the merger that united the Alliance with the Progressive Conservatives, to today where we have a Conservative government with Stephen Harper as PM.

The merger is the best thing that has happened to Canada in the last few years. Kudos to Stephen Harper and Peter Mackay for making it happen. Peter Mackay in my opinion has not been given enough credit for what he did. He gave up his leadership in the PCs and was called a Judas by former leadership rival in what he called a betrayal. Mr. Mackay would have betrayed Canada IMHO had he not gone forward with Stephen Harper to renunite the Conservative family.

This is the part I liked best in the piece that sums up the last decade nicely.

Fair and Balanced and Just the Facts Please

In today's Chronicle Herald, Dan Leger laments how bad 2009 was a bad year for the MSM, libel chill, advertising taking a nosedive, newspapers in North America folding blah, blah, blah......

He also laments the PM, celebrities, sports teams are going over they, the journalism elite heads to get message out. He especially hones in on PM Harper.

But there are other attacks on journalism of which few citizens are even aware. And they are insidious.

Professional sports teams, actors, musicians and others are now trying to wrest control and copyright from the news media on everything from concerts to cricket matches. A worldwide trend is emerging in which sports and entertainment promoters try to control what is portrayed, how it’s distributed and who owns it.

At music, entertainment and sports events, photographers are being presented with written demands for prior approval of their pictures and for ownership of those photographs. Many news agencies are simply boycotting public events rather than sign away their rights.

And that means people might not see coverage of the rock show they attended or the hockey game they cheered. But it’s not just greedy promoters who are trying to manipulate the media in ways never attempted before. It’s happening in politics, too. Too frequently, the prime minister’s official media corps is covering events from which conventional journalists are excluded. A full-fledged media machine is growing in the prime minister’s office, paid for by the taxpayer and designed to burnish Stephen Harper’s image.

Prime ministers have always had photographers. But now, independent journalists are prevented from covering stories in the public interest. This is something new and worrisome for those who value our basic freedoms.

Well duh... he can't trust "you know it alls" to report honestly without some sort of smear.

In the comments section at the end of the piece, a commenter hits the nail on the head.

"thecaper wrote:
I must disagree with the comments of our esteemed editor. If reporters and, especially editors, would just report the story and not try to couch the news in certain ways to match their biases, then it would have been a good year. I challenge all editors and reporters to self-identify their political affiliations so that we can properly judge their "stories" on their merit.
"

Amen to that. That's why the public is increasingly getting turned off and resorting to alternative news sources. Your credibility is shot.
You guys blew it last summer on Wafergate, bodybags, H1N1, etc, etc. We aren't buying what you are selling anymore.
Climate-gate the biggest story in ages. Where were you? You have been asleep at the switch. The biggest story in years. Instead what do you pathetic journalists focus on, the overblown story about Afghan prisoners that the general public doesn't care about and Tiger Woods.
If it weren't for the blogs, radio guys like Dave Rutherford, Charles Adler, Roy Green we would be totally oblivious to the issue. Although, I must say Lorrie Goldstein from the Sun Chain and some in the National Post did a pretty good job making the public aware. Heck a person even had to go international media like Russia Today for info. Pathetic!

So MSM, wake up, give us the public what we are looking for, fair and balanced and just the facts. Not some spinned and manipulated garbage to drive an agenda.

Like this: Then the lie was exposed.

2010 could be a better year for you, just stop the spin and the bias. You might be suprised, you might get some of us back.

The Best Christmas Gift

Wow! Christmas 2009 is now history. I pray each one had a very blessed time and remembered what the season is really about. Yes, the food, decorations, gifts, family time is great but focus is really about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the ultimate gift. He loves us so much!! He came to give us a gift, the gift of eternal life.

He left His home in heaven with the Father and became flesh to live among us. He showed us how we should live our lives so that it is pleasing to God the Father. He taught us how to pray, how to have faith and trust God no matter what we are going through, whether good or bad.

He was rejected and despised. He was beaten, broken and suffered just for us. He took on our sins and our burdens for which he hung on the cross and died for so that we may live.

Yes, He is alive today! He rose out of his grave and ascended to heaven to sit on the right hand side of God. He sent His spirit to be with us, to comfort us and guide us so that we can do the things that are right and steer us away from the things that are wrong.

So now that the presents are all unwrapped, dinner is finished, things are starting to wind down, just take the time to reflect.

He is real. He loves us. He wants to help us. He wants to be a part of our lives. He wants to be our friend. All we have to do is invite Him and receive Him into our heart. It is just that easy.

It is the best gift you will ever receive. Believe me! I know!

Cap and Trade= Organized Crime

In Europe, cops are saying cap and trade is an organized crime scheme. So that should send signals to North America where Canada and the US are talking about adopting such a scheme.
We need to be careful and not let this through. Hopefully it can be stopped at the US Senate level. Then we don't have to go through with it, because remember, Minister Prentice and PM Harper said that we are going to integrate whatever we do with the Americans.

Fraud in Europe's Cap and Trade System a 'Red Flag,' Critics Say

"The top cops in Europe say carbon-trading is an organized crime scheme that has robbed the continent of $7.4 billion -- a massive fraud that lawmakers and energy experts say should send a "red flag" to the U.S., which approved cap-and-trade legislation over the summer amid stiff opposition."

Way to Go Premier Ed

I don't often agree with Premier Ed Stelmach but I applaud him for standing up for Alberta against Ontario and Quebec when a few days ago they were finger pointing at the bad guy Alberta again.

From the Calgary Herald

In an open letter published in major Canadian newspapers, Stelmach appeared to take aim at Quebec and Ontario, and also used a Thursday radio interview to throw direct jabs at the Liberal premiers of the two provinces.

Both Quebec and Ontario served notice at the Copenhagen climate talks they don't want their greenhouse gas cuts contributing the lion's share of national reductions simply to offset rising emissions from the carbon-intensive oilsands.

On Thursday, Stelmach fired back. In the three-quarter-page newspaper ads, which cost $118,862 to run across the country, the premier said Alberta is doing its part both on the environmental and economic fronts.

"Albertans want to reduce emissions. We offer pragmatic, practical ways to do it. No one should ignore the economic stakes of this debate," Stelmach penned in the ad, which ran on Page A17 of Thursday's Calgary Herald.

"Slowing our economy is a guaranteed way to reduce emissions. But if Alberta's economy stops growing, all Canadians will feel this pain," said the premier, who skipped the Copenhagen talks and sent instead Environment Minister Rob Renner.

Stelmach explained in the letter that Alberta's contribution to the federal treasury is "huge," with its people and businesses sending $21 billion more in taxes to Ottawa than it receives back in grants, programs and services

The following radio interview that is referred to is from the Dave Rutherford Show, QR77. If you want to listen click on the link, go to Dec. 17, 9:00 am after the news.

More from the Calgary Hearld

In a radio interview, the embattled Stelmach ramped up his attack against Charest and Ontario's Dalton McGuinty.

"I said I can predict that Quebec is going to go grandstand (in Copenhagen)," Stelmach said. "I didn't think Ontario would because there's a lot of jobs in Ontario that are dependent on the oilsands."

The premier said he thought cooler heads would ultimately prevail in Denmark, believing premiers had agreed technology was the country's best tool in reducing greenhouse gas emissions without crippling the Canadian economy.

Stelmach said he's onside with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and federal Environment Minister Jim Prentice, who've expressed their support for relying on technology, such as carbon capture and storage, to slash Canada's emissions.

"They had an agreement going in, and the only province that was offside was Quebec," he said. "I can tell you that one of the premiers that's pointing the finger against Alberta has a fleet of Audis and a jet to fly around the country," said Stelmach, who drives a fleet of Fords.

Thank you Premier, keep it up!

Teaparty Goers vs Violent Protesters

Who are the Teapartiers and who are the violent Protesters? Hmmm..... Can you tell? Who would you listen too? Who has more sense?

Liberal's Weak Mea Culpa

The Liberal apology yesterday for a picture they put up on the official Liberal website depicting the assassination of our Prime Minister, The Right Honorable Stephen Harper was in my opinion, not a real apology.

"That one slipped by and should not have been posted," a senior Liberal official said.

Later yesterday, the party took down "certain images that may have been offensive to some viewers" and is now reviewing entries before posting them online. "We apologize for any offence these images may have caused," the party's Web staff said in an online notice."

Not good enough, no mention it was wrong to depicit the leader of our country in such a way. No apology directed toward the PM personally. No mention that who ever is responsible for posted it on the website will be dealt with and it will not happen again.

The Leader of the Liberal Party, Michael Ignatieff needs to make a public apology to the Prime Minister in public. The buck stops with the leader. He is ultimately responsible for what takes place with operatives in his party just like Stephen Harper is responsible and Jack Layton is responsible.

Looks like he's not.

"It's a really, really bad slip on our side and we're fully aware and apologize for it," adds Lague.

But he says Michael Ignatieff won't be apologizing to Prime Minister Stephen Harper because the pictures had nothing to do with the Liberal leader.

Iffy step up to the plate and take responsiblity. PM Harper did last year when his war room put up the puffin' poop pic that was tasteless. He even fired someone in the war room over it.

Btw, I thought with arrival of Peter Donolo, Liberals were going to finally get some adult supervision. Hasn't worked out so wonderful with this latest disgusting act.

Another good reason why Liberals are not fit to govern.

This Is a Canadian Embarassment not the Goverment's Emissions Plan

This is truly an embarrassment. Diane Francis, advocates a one child policy like China has to combat the so called global warming. That should embarrass Canadians not the government's environmental policy or our so called dirty oil sands.

Foxnews caught it and has been talking about it. Laura Ingram fills in for Bill O'Reilly on this show Friday night. She interviews Francis and makes her look totally idiotic. Here is the transcript.

Then yesterday Glenn Beck brought it up on his show.

Canadians should be disgusted.

Move Over Bernie Madoff, Here Comes Tony Blair

Al Gore isn't the only one poised to make a lot of money off the global warming scam, now Former British PM Tony Blair is set to make a bundle. That's why he is in Copenhagen pushing for a deal.

Is Blair trying to cash in on climate change?: Ex-PM arrives at summit to urge greenhouse gas deal

"But his appearance will raise suspicions that he is planning to cash in on global warming.

It comes just weeks after he registered the internet name 'Low Carbon Capital Fund' - thought to be a way of making money out of the demand for green technology."

And here:

"The speech came at the launch of a report from Mr Blair and the international lobby organisation The Climate Group.
The group - which works with more than 50 international companies, including BP, Coca-Cola and Nestle - supports the idea of issuing bonds to green-minded investors"

Follow the money folks! It's all about the money not the environment.

Does the Media Make You Feel Like a Failure re Global Warming?

Robert Fulford in the National Post explains how the media in particular has been trying to shame us for our failure in doing nothing on the so called global warming.

"Apparently, Canada had not reached the standards expected by a UN member. On about a dozen occasions, the CBC told me that our abysmal failure had made people elsewhere consider us the world’s moral sinkhole. As late as Thursday morning, a CBC radio host reminded me that among countries ecologically in the know, Canada is considered “public enemy number one.”

And this about the Red Star non-sense,

"Through this process, the Toronto Star kept its readers on top of what the Star considers should be the national mood. Star editors, understandably, were almost paralyzed with grief over our nation’s carbon emissions failure and our unfortunate reputation."

Christie Blatchford Smacksdown Fellow Journalists

Christie Blatchford in her column today in the Globe and Mail smacksdown her fellow reporters who crucified her for this earlier piece, on the Afghan prisioner abuse fiasco. Here's what she had to say:

"I am not one of those smart Ottawa reporters who, having suffered through too many Question Periods, know what constitutes torture better than anyone else. Nor am I a mandarin, politician or aide, all of whom have endured the same, plus the practice of jackal journalism, which is what the modern game has become.

So perhaps, when such good people raise their voices, as they did this week, and cry "Torture! Cover-up! Bombshell!", I should simply defer to their greater collective wisdom and yield the floor.

Alas, I am constitutionally unable. Also, for the most part, I think they're blowing smoke out their bums. Besides, since Parliament has now ordered the government to produce thousands of uncensored documents on Afghan detainees, it seems clear that whether officially or through leaks, many of these documents over the coming weeks and months will one way or another be making a public appearance"

To that I say thank-you Christie Blatchford! We need more journalists with the guts like her to report the facts and the truth. I suggest we all email her and tell her thank-you. If you want to contact her, here's how you can do it.

A Cool Canadian Website on Politics and Free Enterprise

Check out this cool website I found for conservatives. It's Canadian. It's called, Daily-Split. It's about politics and free enterprise. There's a new, news video every week day. There is lots of information, comment, videos and very professionally done. Go have a look. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Here is a sample video:

Athletes Should Focus on Athletics Not Activism

Should not our Olympic athletes be preparing for the up coming Vancouver Winter Olympics instead of lobbying the PM on the global warming scam?

CALGARY - Canada's winter Olympians are calling on the prime minister to take action to reduce global warming in advance of his participation at the international climate change summit in Copenhagen.

The MSM Gets it Wrong Again on PM Harper

Remember last week when the MSM were all a buzz with the story that the Prime Minister had been rebuked by the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao? The opposition was all up in arms.

Well it looks like that may not have been the case. This from Xinsheng Zhong, executive director, Toronto Community & Culture Centre, a Chinese-Canadian.

Harper was not rebuked

"In my opinion and that of many other Chinese-Canadians, the Premier's comments hold a different meaning. It is important to know that in Chinese culture, when a friend visits another friend's home after a long period of time, it is quite common for the host to express publicly that he or she acknowledges that the friend has not visited for a long time and that he or she wishes for more frequent visits. The host's comments would not be taken or meant as a "rebuke" or soft attack, since this message actually conveys that the guest holds high importance and that the host desires to see the guest more often." h/t Jen

Will the MSM or the opposition take note of this, apologize and correct the record? I won't hold my breath.

PM says Ecomonic Recovery Priority over Environment

Harper Says Global Recovery Must Precede Environment (Update1)

"Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he will use Canada’s co-chairmanship of next year’s Group of 20 countries meeting to urge members to put economic recovery before efforts to protect the environment" h/t Wilson

From this, I believe our Prime Minister and his government have our best interests at heart and are not going to take us into something that would be very damaging to our country, jeopardizing our economy and standard of living.

Our country and others have gotten themselves into big deficits and are still reeling from the recession. Getting our fiscal houses in order makes sense and should take priority.

Way to go Mr. Prime Minister!

BTW, I see more Fossil Awards coming our way. Cheers!

Hypocrisy in Copenhagen

Is this not the epitome of hypocrisy?

Copenhagen climate summit: 1,200 limos, 140 private planes and caviar wedges

Here:

"Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. "We haven't got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand," she says. "We're having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden"

"The airport says it is expecting up to 140 extra private jets during the peak period alone, so far over its capacity that the planes will have to fly off to regional airports – or to Sweden – to park, returning to Copenhagen to pick up their VIP passengers
"

Doesn't make sense. This tells me it's not really about the environment. What say you?

Update: h/t Jen

Hannity's America: Al Gore's Gulfstream Jet

Al Gore Confronted on Climate-gate

Al Gore is confronted on climate-gate here. At least these guys are standing up to him.

Minister Prentice, Study This

Take note Minister Prentice, Lorrie Goldstein has these 6 keys to surviving Copenhagen. Please study and memorize them like Mr. Goldstein says, OK? Here they are.

We will be doing that and we will be watching, got that?

Minister Prentice, PM Harper, we're counting on you to do the right thing for us.

CBC Producer Mysteriously Finds Minister's Briefcase

Some thing doesn't smell right here. Some thing suspicious going on I say with CBC involved?

"EDMONTON — An Alberta government minister is apologizing after a briefcase containing sensitive government documents was stolen from his car while he was at dinner with a friend.

An associate producer with CBC Radio Edmonton later found the briefcase outside his apartment building."

Looks like some kind of set up to me. Somebody's being slimy.

Strong Canadian Dollar benefits Canadian NHL Teams

The rise in our Canadian dollar has helped the NHL, especially our Canadian teams. This comes from the New York Times.

The rising Canadian dollar is nearing parity with its United States counterpart. The Canadian dollar, whose value against the United States dollar fell to a low of 62 cents in 2002, is worth about 96 cents today. As a result, the revenues for the six Canadian clubs helped the entire league earn its highest operating profit in more than a decade, according to Forbes magazine
.

So for some the higher Canadian dollar is not a good thing like for instance our manufacturing industry is suffering but for others there are benefits. It's a tough balancing act. It would be nice if there was a point in the value of our dollar where all would benefit but where is that point?

More Problems in Liberal Land

Ooooooh..........With more dissension in the party, now over HST, Iffy better be watching his back. His BC MPs are against the HST. He says he will whip his party into voting in favor, will there be a revolt or consequences? Oh, my, what is he to do? Maybe saviour Peter Donolo will come to the rescue.

Because look who's waiting in the wings to take over.

Warmist's Credibility Shot

Not only is the Warmist's so called climate change science bad, but the PR campaign has been bad too. Their credibility is shot and they now know it.
Margaret Wente has a great column today that points this out. This small piece from her article:

American climate scientist Judith Curry wrote. She figures the damage inflicted by this affair on the credibility of climate research “is likely to be significant.”

How can our leaders knowing of this scam now (at least I hope they're aware), can go into this farce of climate change summit in Copenhagen, sign anything and spend billions of our money?

Cozy Dictators

Well now doesn't this just warm your heart. I'm sure it will warm the hearts of all the lefties out there. Libs and Dippers, doesn't this make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

" We feel at home here and among our brothers ... we're going to be together until the end," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez during a visit to Latin America on Wednesday.

Two crazy dictators banding together. What are those sayings now, "Two peas in pod" and "Birds of a Feather?"

Fits nicely. Why not just allow the little dictator from North Korea and the nutcase from Libya in on your little party? Hey, you're all kindred spirits right? Your hatred for Israel, the west, anything democratic.

Hey, enjoy your cozyness together losers, because democracy always wins out in the long run. Just ask our veterans, they'll tell ya.

Running Down Canada

Charles Adler hit one out of the ballpark again. Today he talked about those in Ottawa trashing the troops and the country over the Afghan detainees during the last week. He is angry at the opposition and all the talking heads running down our country.
Listen to him here at QR77 Click on 2:00 pm. About 7 minutes in and then continues after the news at bottom of the hour.

Thank-you Charles, you expressed exactly what I feel.

Current Abortion Policy out of Touch with Majority of Canadians

For nine years in a row a majority of Canadians favor some sort of restriction on abortion. A recent poll conducted by Environics found that:

56%, support legal protection at some stage before birth
30% support legal protection from conception on, after six months of pregnancy.
17% after three months of pregnancy
8% after six months of pregnancy.

Support for legal protection from conception on is much higher among women, 35%, than men at 25%.

Abortion funding:

68% of Canadians want privately funded
26% support tax-funding of all abortions down from 30% a year ago
18% or only tax-funded in cases of medical emergency "such as a threat to the mother's life or in cases of rape or incest.

Funding for medical procedures are a provincial responsibility. Our provincial governments need to defund this procedure that kills our most vulnerable precious unborn children. With governments right now scrambling to cut costs because of economic downturn, not only is it wrong to take our money to pay for something that according to this poll, a majority don't approve of but we also can't afford it.

Obama's Science Czar Invovled in Global Warming Fraud

Looks like John Holdren, President Barack Obama's Science Czar has been involved in this whole global warming scam. There are in this revelation that broke wide open, emails involving him.
Dr. Timothy Ball, a renowned climatologist points this out in this article he co-wrote in the Canada Free Press.

Obama Science Czar John Holdren is directly involved in CRU’s unfolding Climategate scandal. In fact, according to files released by a CEU hacker or whistleblower, Holdren is involved in what Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Canadian climatologist Dr. Tim Ball terms “a truculent and nasty manner that provides a brief demonstration of his lack of understanding, commitment on faith and willingness to ridicule and bully people”.

Holdren has extreme views on various issues like Population Control. This coming from Holdren himself:

"Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.
It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society.
Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock."
This is very disturbing. To think he is involved in this climate deception and advising the President of the United States of America.
Let us not be suckered in. If this man is an example of those who are trying to scam us out of our money and resources and want to control us, God help us!
Stand up now and let your leaders know that we don't want them signing on to anything in Copenhagen that will jeopardize our economies and our freedoms.

Severe H1N1 Vaccine Allergic Reactions

Apparently there has been an unusual number of severe allergic reactions to the swine flu vaccine in Canada. This reported by the WHO (World Health Organization ). Vancouver Sun

Makes ya kinda think twice about getting poked in the arm doesn't it?

Have a look at this video that was sent to me. It's about a young women who got a shot and then suffered a severe reaction.

Wanna take a chance? Not me, thank you.

Balance from one columnist on Detainee Issue

Finally we have some sanity and balance coming at least one in the MSM regarding this whole Afghan detainee torture fiasco.
Chantal Hebert from the Star points out that this mess started when the Liberals were in office. Read her comments here.

Brilliant!

I think this is brilliant. Members of Congress are being inundated with Pink Slips.

"Conservative site WorldNetDaily is running a campaign to send members of Congress a "pink slip" warning that if they vote for "government health care," "cap and trade," "hate crimes," or "any more spending," their "real pink slip will be issued in the next election."

You know I was thinking, we could do that here too. Send "Pink Slips" to certain Members of Parliament or MLAs that we feel should get the boot if they vote let's say against free speech, smaller government, lowering taxes, scraping the gun registry, spending cuts etc. Pink slips too if they vote for any global warming scam.

Don't know if it would have any impact on the politicians but it at least sends a message.

Thank You Indian Media

From David Akin, National Post
It takes a journalist from the Indo-Asian News Service for pointing out how the Canadian MSM cover our PM Harper. Instead of the MSM talking about the good things that the Prime Minister getting done for us in India, our MSM likes to take pot shots.

Writing in the left-wing Toronto Star, Rick Westhead says: "For Harper, the visit may have to do less with new trade deals or warmed relations than with building ties to Indo-Canadian voters before the next election. "So rather than strategizing on new bilateral investment with India's Ambani brothers, the prime minister will travel to the Golden Temple in Amritsar - the holiest shrine in the Sikh faith - and meet with Hindi film star Akshay Kumar, a torchbearer for the Vancouver Olympics.' Not surprisingly, the current Canadian prime minister has always had prickly relations with his nation's media.

Thank you Sarabjit Jagirdar from the Indo-Asian News Service for pointing out the pettiness of our Canadian media!
Thank you David Akin for sharing this in your report.

It's the Liberals that Need to Grow Up

Lately Liberal MPs have been acting like they're in Junior High. All their faux scandals and outrages against the government reminds me of whiny name calling Jr. High girls.

Yesterday in ethics committee, Scarborough Liberal MP Michelle Simson wrote the following on twitter, “M.P. Del Mastro should grow up (not out)” When making a statement like that Ms. Simson should look in the mirror. Her and her Liberal colleagues are the ones who should "grow up" and actually do some work for a change for Canadians.

Come on, this is the kinda stuff that goes on in Jr. High. No wonder Liberals are turning voters off.
Keep it up Liberals! It's not Mr. Del Mastro that needs to grow up, it's YOU, LIBERALS.

Anti-Semitism in Calgary

It's really sickening to think that anti-semitism is at work once again, in Calgary to boot. Late Saturday or early Sunday various Jewish facilities were vandalized. This was clearly a hate crime. Were lessons not learned from the past?

I thought we were a more tolerant society now with respect for one another's ethnicity, religion or POV.

This kind of act should not be tolerated at all. I hope whoever is responsible for this horrible thing will get the book thrown at them.

H1N1 Overblown

See, just as I thought. The Swine Flu pandemic has been overblown.

According to our chief public officer, Dr. David Butler-Jones, the H1N1 is no worse than seasonal flu.

Ed Stelmach Promises Changes?

Things have not been going to well for the Premier for awhile now. Some external, some of their own doing. Poll numbers dropping like a stone while Wildrose Alliance is rising in popular support.

Last weekend Annual General Meeting Premier Stelmach got 77% support from the PC party membership. He promised there would be changes.

What are those changes going to be? Is he going to shuffle his cabinet? There is speculation out there he might. He could begin by taking Ted Morton, put him in Finance, Iris Evans has been a disaster. Also remove Ron Liepert from Alberta Health and Wellness Minister, he doesn't have clue what he's doing.

There are more, too many to mention right now. I could go on and on about Cabinet Minister incompetence but it's going to take more than a cabinet shuffle to change things in Alberta.

First of all before you shuffle your cabinet,Premier Stelmach, please listen to Albertans. We are not happy. Make the kind of changes WE want, like change the royalty formula back, cut spending, cut taxes, and axe the AHRC for example. It would be good start!

Two Thumbs Up

I give the Harper government a two thumbs up for their new Citizenship Guidebook, Discover Canada
The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship

Minister Jason Kenny unveiled a beautiful publication full of valuable information about Canada and who we are and what are responsibilities should be as citizens of the this the best country in the world.

It tells story of our history the positive and the negative. It tells of our proud military history both current and past. It talks of our symbols and what they mean.

The booklet also explains how Canada and Canadians have contributed to the world to make it a better place.

I find the book is very colorful and inviting, beautiful photographs and illustrations. It makes you want to look at and read it. It is not only valuable to new Canadians but also those of us who have been born and raised here and have lived here all our lives. I think it would be great to distribute to school children so they can get a better picture of what this country is all about that they are growing up in. After all they are the leaders of tomorrow, they have a right to know everything about their country that they can.

I especially took an interest in this new citizenship book because just recently my husband became a new Canadian. He had the old book, A Look at Canada, which was much lacking both in substance and accuracy. I even complained about to my husband that they need to change this thing. Our kids even noticed that is was vacuous. It was dull, photos were in black and white and well just uninteresting.

Thank-you Minister Kenny for this new citizenship book. Now new Canadians will have a better knowledge of what Canada is really all about.

P.S. If anyone is wondering where my husband came from, well he came from England and I'm glad he did.

It's the Soldier

Here is a poem I came upon today. I thought I would share it with you as we think about what our soldiers have done and are doing for us.

IT IS THE SOLDIER

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

There can never be enough gratitude that we could ever show the brave men and women in uniform who have sacrificed so much for us.
Thank-you and God Bless!

Highway of Heroes

As we all pause tomorrow to remember our brave fallen who have sacrificed their lives for freedom, this video will touch you like nothing else. I am a great supporter of our Military and was greatly affected by this.

Lest we forget! Let us honour them, they deserve it. Keep praying for those who continue to serve in Afghanistan. May God keep them safe.

CPC and NDP Winners

The CPC and the NDP came up winners last night in the four federal by-elections that were held.

The CPC are two more seats stronger. Cumberland--Colchester--Musquodoboit Valley, Nova Scotia and Montmagny--L'Islet--Kamouraska--Rivière-du-Loup,Quebec, an upset from what was a Bloc stronghold.
The NDP hang on to their seat in New Westminster--Coquitlam and increased their overall vote.

The Bloq held on to their seat in Hochelaga in Montreal's east end. No surprise there.

Hmmmmm...... where are the Liberals? Well they ended up in a distant third in ALL four ridings. They did no better than with Dion at the helm. They should have done better. By elections usually are a protest against the governing party and usually the official opposition capitalizes. You would think they would have benefited with the recession and all.

Looks like not this time. The governing party won half of the seats, the official opposition came up empty. I see this as an endorsement of the Conservative government and maybe of things to come next general election. Namely a majority Conservative government.

BTW. Congratulations to all the winners! God Bless you as serve the people of Canada!

How will Ed do?

In just two days Premier Ed Stelmach will have a mandatory leadership review. How will he do?
The latest poll that just came out this morning doesn't look too good at this point for the Premier and his PC's.

The poll conducted by Environics puts the PCs at 34% Wildrose Alliance at 28% Liberals at 20% and the ND's at 9%. Wildrose is clearly gaining. Is this a referendum on the PC government, is there a political shift happening in Alberta? Who knows? Time will tell.

So will this have an effect on his leadership numbers on Saturday? I don't know. Maybe.
Some say that if he doesn't get at least 70% he should step down. Some have a lower threshold for him.

What will the numbers end up to be? What will the members say? I think he'll end up with between 60 and 65% approval.

We'll wait until Saturday and then see what happens from there.

Director of Planned Parenthood has a change of heart

"BRYAN, Texas, November 2, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The director of the Texas Planned Parenthood abortion mill where the 40 Days for Life campaign began has resigned, saying she experienced a conversion after watching an ultrasound video of a child being killed by abortion.

"I just thought I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that's it," said Abby Johnson in an interview with local news network KBTX 3."

I am so glad this planned parenthood leader saw the light. I pray that she will have an influence on others to have a change of heart.

Abortions are the real KILLER not H1N1 FLU!

The Death of Common Sense

As I was listening to the Roy Green show on the weekend, I heard something being recited I have to share with you.

It's called "The Death of Common Sense" by Lori Borgman a syndicated journalist who has appeared on the Glenn Beck show, Regis and Kelly, Dr. Laura etc.

The Death of Common Sense

Three yards of black fabric enshroud my computer terminal. I am mourning the passing of an old friend by the name of Common Sense.

His obituary reads as follows:

Common Sense, aka C.S., lived a long life, but died from heart failure at the brink of the millennium. No one really knows how old he was; his birth records were long ago entangled in miles and miles of bureaucratic red tape.

Known affectionately to close friends as Horse Sense and Sound Thinking, he selflessly devoted himself to a life of service in homes, schools, hospitals, and offices, helping folks get jobs done without a lot of fanfare, whooping, and hollering. Rules and regulations and petty, frivolous lawsuits held no power over C.S.

A most reliable sage, he was credited with cultivating the ability to know when to come in out of the rain, the discovery that the early bird gets the worm, and how to take the bitter with the sweet. C.S. also developed sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn), reliable parenting strategies (the adult is in charge, not the kid) and prudent dietary plans (offset eggs and bacon with a little fiber and orange juice).

A veteran of the Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, the Technological Revolution and the Smoking Crusades, C.S. survived sundry cultural and educational trends including disco, the men's movement, body piercing, whole language, and new math.

C.S.'s health began declining in the late 1960s when he became infected with the If-It-Feels-Good, Do-It virus. In the following decades his waning strength proved no match for the ravages of overbearing federal and state rules and regulations and an oppressive tax code. C.S. was sapped of strength and the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, criminals received better treatment than victims, and judges stuck their noses in everything from Boy Scouts to professional baseball and golf.

His deterioration accelerated as schools implemented zero-tolerance policies. Reports of six-year-old boys charged with sexual harassment for kissing classmates, a teen suspended for taking a swig of Scope mouthwash after lunch, girls suspended for possessing Midol, and an honor student expelled for having a table knife in her school lunch were more than his heart could endure.

As the end neared, doctors say C.S. drifted in and out of logic but was kept informed of developments regarding regulations on low-flow toilets, mandatory air bags, and a government plan to ban inhalers from fourteen million asthmatics due to a trace of a pollutant that may be harmful to the environment. Finally, upon word that a North Carolina town council was attempting to restrict front porch furniture to lawn chairs and settees that are aesthetically attractive, C.S. breathed his last.

Services will be at Whispering Pines Cemetery. C.S. was preceded in death by his wife, Discretion; one daughter, Responsibility; and one son, Reason. He is survived by two step-brothers, Half-Wit and Dim-Wit.

Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Institute for Rational Thought.

Farewell, Common Sense. May you rest in peace.
