Tories accuse Liberal MP of illegal lobbying for foreign companies
OTTAWA - Liberal MP Derek Lee faces accusations that he's been illegally lobbying the government on behalf of foreign companies.
The bombshell dropped by Transport Minister John Baird has turned the tables on Liberal efforts to tar the government with unethical conduct.
They've been roasting the Harper government for weeks over allegations that former Conservative MP Rahim Jaffer illegally lobbied up to seven different government departments and agencies.
They're now scrambling to explain why one of their own sitting MPs is promoted as a lobbyist on a Toronto law firm's website.
Sun and Partners touts Lee — the firm's legal counsel since 2007 — as someone who works on behalf of foreign and offshore organizations lobbying the government and helping secure government approval for mergers and acquisitions.
Lee is not registered as a lobbyist.
So, I expect that Lee will immediately be out of a job- and that the MSM will go to unreasonable lengths to pillory the guy and cast him as some kind of villain... oh hang on... isn't Lee a Liberal?? oh well.... business as usual.TGM
ReplyDeleteDon't hold your breath.

Yup, double standard! Disgusting!
This EXACT site was posted at a BT bloggers site, weeks ago (I wish I could remember who) and absolutely nothing happened, yet we know the MSM frequently visit. What changed?
ReplyDeleteHow is this possible in a world of instant messaging and the internet?
I am really p-oed about this one because it clearly show a complete disregard for truth and balance in the media. What are we to do> Why don't the higher ups recognise that their pundits have lost their way?
They have completely destroyed JAffer, now Helena and likely his partner and what do we get from them? A mere pathetic whisper. Outrageous!
Derek Lee's moonlighting was first exposed 2 weeks ago, on BT, by Stephen Taylor!!!

Does this mean Ignatieff will have Derrick Lee step down, call in the RCMP to investigate his business dealings and will the parliamentary committee have him testify before them....and will the media report it all at nausea and CBC have the findings on 10 -20 times a day?
ReplyDeleteNope...too busy making excuses for him.
Lee should be investigated in Committee!! Sic Pat Martin on him...
ReplyDeletegot a chuckle out of this, our ntl media can't pull any stunts in the US:
Canadian Press
TORONTO - Three Canadian journalists are being barred from Guantanamo Bay, where they have been covering pre-trial war-crimes hearings for Omar Khadr, the Pentagon said Thursday.
The reporters for the Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, and Canwest News Service breached a ban on identifying a witness, according to the Pentagon.
"Your reporters published the name of a witness whose identity was protected in court," a letter handed to the journalists stated.
"As a result of these violations, these individual reporters are barred from returning to cover future military commissions proceedings."
