Rosie DiManno: Cry Me A River, Omar!

Obviously one of the more reasonable columnists from the Toronto Star, Rosie DiManno has not much sympathy for Omar Khadr.
Omar Khadr would have been a different person with a different father.
So what? So would we all.
There’s no retroactive mercy for felons who’ve grown up with lousy parents, in deranged households, taught wickedly in the ways of the world. That defence doesn’t work for child molesters, rapists and serial killers, many of whom were subjected to horrific mental and physical abuse, scars that never fade.
I see no reason why it should be asserted as an absolving excuse for the crimes to which Khadr has now admitted — because he had the misfortune of being born into an Al Qaeda family.
She goes on to dispel some of  those excuses that the left make for "poor little Omar."   Why anyone would see Omar as an innocent little babe is beyond me especially now when he has confessed to his crimes and feels happy about killing the US soldier whenever he thinks about it. He has absolutely no remorse. That little twerp wouldn't have hesitated if it would have been a Canadian medic instead of an American. He would have thrown that grenade regardless.  How would have the left reacted?  Probably not much different.  That is sad, really sad.  In fact whether left realizes it or not, it's down right dangerous. If you think about it, they tend to coddle and protect terrorists more than innocent citizens and that folks is scary.

Kudos to Rosie DiManno, she  has it spot on:  "Cry me a river, Omar!"

  1. Why now? because the conservatives are in government. If the liberals were still in government, the media will not be airing nor talking about OMAR.

Why not in 2002 when Omar was fifteen when Jean Chretien was in government.

This is to embarassed this government for the liberals own neglected problems.

As always the media work for the LPOC and only for them.

  2. Jen,couldn't have said it better myself. It's so glaring that the MSM are in the tank for the Libs, you'd have to be a moron not to notice. When the Libs were in power I don't recall hearing about Omar even once. More hypocrisy from the media and the Libs for that matter. How come the Libs left Omar in Gitmo when they were in office, and now screaming on his behalf. Pathetic!

  3. These are not Canada's media for canadians; Canadians living in dark or so the media thought were cruising the time when something big will happen which did FORD'S VICTORY.

The media thought throughout the years of constant manipulation, insults, lies, not telling the whole story but part of it,that the stupid public would let it fly and forget but to the media's shock and horror the public proved to them that they were awake all the time.

The reporters who value their credentials as 'true' reporters have a huge openning for them to branch into to speak and write what was not allowed. If they don't make that attempt to give solid and balance reporting then they are wasting their time and ours.
As you are doing right now frmgrl, you are giving credit to Rosie for her work on Omar. I hope that she does not stop here.

  4. I hope that she does not stop here.

I hope she doesn't stop either. The public needs every journalist like her to keep the balanced reporting. After all there are too few of them out there. Another good one out there I like is Christie Blatchford. She has done some fantastic work on Afghanistan. Lorrie Goldstein too. He's been great on exposing the whole global warming scam.
