Free At Last! Western Farmers Are Free at Last!

Western farmers are finally free of the CWB after almost 70 years.  Bill C-18, the bill to give marketing freedom received royal assent last night.

The GG obviously did not heed Bob Rae's letter not to give royal assent to the bill.
Shortly after the vote, Gov. Gen. David Johnston gave the bill royal assent. Interim Liberal leader Bob Rae and CWB chairman Allen Oberg had both written to Johnston asking him not to give the bill royal assent while the courts are considering the legality of the bill.
The CWB has even dropped it's court challenge for an injunction.

This is a Very Merry Christmas for western farmers!  They can now sell their wheat and barley to whomever they choose without the government just like their Ontario and Quebec counterparts.

God Bless Minister Gerry Ritz!  God Bless PM Harper!  God Bless Canada!

Free at last, free at last!   Praise God western farmers are free at last!!!

  2. But, but, the ndpq leader has promised to bring it back when they win the next election, along with the gun registration bill.
Good luck to them campaigning on that platform considering PMSH won campaigning against them.

  3. And the Conservatives just keep rollin on! Good show I say.
What's next on the agenda that was held up because of a minority government?
When the Libs held a majority nothing was ever heard about them pounding their agenda through. What's the difference? The shoe is on the other foot now and will be for the foreseeable future.
Well done Cons - you have played your cards correctly allowing Canada to reap the rewards that were either watered down in the past and/or shot down altogether.
    Go Mr. Harper - Congratulations!

And I'm sure they'll win in a landslide too with those promises. NOT!

  5. Excellent news! Finally, farmers won't be jailed anymore for selling their own wheat. Maybe we should start up a pasta plant in the west.

frmgrl, it brought tears to my eyes, the shackles are off. Proud of the farmers.
Thanks Ritz, PM Harper, Anderson and all past farmers who fought daily for freedom.

Brought tears to my eyes too. It's truly an emotional time especially for those who have agricultural ties. The only thing, this should have happened years ago.

  8. And last night the anti-freedom farmers lost their first case!!!

Now that they have to pay for this on their own dime,
let's see if they continue this pathetic attack on fellow farmers.
