So Alison Redford Wants To Change "The Character" of Alberta

So Alison Redford said she wants to "change the character" of Alberta.    Excuse me, what do you mean by that Ms. Redford?  What's wrong with Alberta the way it is?
In response to a question, Redford said: “I have a great deal of certainly and confidence in terms of where Albertans are viewing the future of the province, and I don’t think it’s the status quo and don’t think it’s going back 15 or 20 years.
“I think it’s about the future, understanding that we’re a different community, we’re a different society, that we have the opportunity to make some really wise and long-term decisions that will change the character of our province.”
It reminds me of Michelle Obama during the 2008 US presidential election musing about what Americans could expect from her husband about changing traditions, and history etc.
“We’re going to have to make sacrifices, we’re going to have to change our conversation, we’re going to have to change our traditions, our history and we’re going to have to move to a different place.”

All of this doesn't surprise me coming from Redford.  She spent some time working at the UN so she is of that kind of mindset.
The Secretary General of the United Nations Boutros Boutros-Ghali appointed and assigned Alison Redford to a post in the United Nations as a special legal adviser.[citation needed]
Throughout the 1990s, Redford worked as a technical adviser on constitutional and legal reform issues in various parts of Africa for the European Union, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Canadian Government and the Government of Australia. Her work in Africa focused on human rights litigation, developing education programs and policy reform with respect to gender issues.[3]
Danielle Smith was right in calling her out on it.    These are the kind of things we need to be alerted about.
Smith says she doesn’t want to change the character of Alberta.
“I don’t think we need to be fixed,” says Smith, calling this election “a fight for the heart and soul of the province.”
She thinks Redford “doesn’t like Alberta all that much. She doesn’t like who we are. Do we need to be changed? Do we need Ms. Redford to change us? I think the answer is a resounding no.”
I like Danielle, like Alberta the way it is.  It doesn't need to be changed thank you very much!  The only change that needs to be done is a change in government!

  1. o/ty, frmgrl, looking to see if Quebec carries the canadian flag inside their assembly House I found this:

    http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=speaker+of+Quebec&view=detail&id=0564A97C1F298FA667C7C8DBE7B969EB606AE9D0&first=0

Only one flag is seen yet the quebec fed mps flood the canadian parliament and for what.

If Alberta had only one flag provincial and not the canadian flag as well without a doubt we will be under attack for wanting money from canada when we don't have the canadian flag at the quebec assembly.

  2. This information re Redford must be posted on every blog. I knew she worked at the UN but not what her position was. That explains a lot re where she is coming from. She needs to be defeated big time. I am so disappointed in all the leadership candidates jumping on her bandwagon when she won. At one time I supported Ted Morton, and his T-shirt which I still have is about to go in the rag bag.
I intend to mention this post at all the blogs I visit, hope that is ok.

    1. maryT As to where Allison McGuinty is coming from Google Un initiative 21. It explains a lot of what REDford and her ilk want.

  3. My husband and I too supported Ted Morton at one time. We too are extremely disappointed in him. Did he not say something to the affect that he had to sacrifice some principals? Not good in my books.

By all means yes, spread this info around. Albertans need to know where Red Ali is coming from.

    1. Not only him but Rick McIver (failed Conservative Mayorilty candidate) was a shocker for me too. I expected him to be more of a Wildrose type so rather dissapointed.

I met Morton at a BBQ last summer (pre leadership race) and I changed my mind about him. I found him to be arrogant and not at all what I had seen and read about him. I was not at all surprised that he got on the Alison bandwagon.

    2. That is shocking about Rick McIver. I always thought of him as a small c-conservative.

With Morton I think he's been co-opted by the PC establishment.

    3. I have always considered McIver a life long politician and will go where he thinks his freeloading can continue.

  4. There is no doubt in my mind that she has a different vision for Alberta. She sounds ashamed of her Province and when she referenced the people COMING to Alberta, earlier this week, rather than those of us already here, a (another one) huge red flag went up.

Alberta IS NOT Eliza Dolittle and she IS NOT Henry Higgins. Her approach could be better compared to an ideologue cloaked in elitist, arrogant shame of her provincial domicile.

  5. Yah, globetrotter Clarkie-Redford tried to become a citizen of Africa:

MacLeans: Was there a moment when you considered committing to South Africa permanently?

Redford: Yes. When I lived in South Africa in 1995, I applied for citizenship. And they turned me down.

  6. Danielle is one beautiful lady.I know that's not why you would vote for her,but it helps. If I lived in Alberta,I'd vote for her.

  7. Redford is a typical social engineering control freak. All must be transformed to suit their vision. Who cares what the visions of individual Albertans may be. You are all to be conscripted into Redford's Red Army in order to exact the change that nobody is asking for. There is only one persuasive device that works with a Progressive and that is to boot them as hard as you can out of office.

Albertans can take a step to the left and closer to totalitarianism by voting for Redford, or they can take a step to the right and closer to freedom by voting for Smith. To me the choice is obvious.

  8. "I applied for citizenship. And they turned me down." It would appear that the South Africans had more brains than the Alberta PCs. What a disaster waiting to happen should she be returned to power.

Yup! It would be disaster I think that Alberta would never recover from.

  10. So she wants to change Alberta and that is exactly what the federal Liberals tried to do to Canada. This woman needs to be shown the door.

  11. Yet more proof Redford is just another damned useless dangerous thieving Liberal. Her secret closed door meetings with McGuinty and Charest in the name of "discussing a national energy policy" should be investigated and reported on. She's baaaad news.

  12. Well Alision has apparently read the tea leaves and stated that her entitled MPP committee kids must pay back their 40 grand.

To late Alison. Your instincts DO NOT work and you DO NOT get a pass.
How tacky is this? Honestly, they are not tuned in!

    1. She's try to cover butt but it won't work. I don't think Albertan's are going to buy it. It IS TOO LATE!!!
She claims to show real leadership. This is not leadership just reaction to public backlash.

    2. HAHA....I've been commenting so often about Ontario that we now have MPP's rather than MLA's.

The concern that I have is that a) it took her this long and "is reactive", I completely agree and b) she may do this during an election and a bad week but she has shown no instinct that she would listen once she had her power back.

      Her trust has been compromised.

What I am baffled by is why these polls so far show that 'women'and 'young people' support her over Danielle. I cannot get my head around that one.

  13. And what about the push poll REDford told Rutherford she knew nothing about, and doesn't approve of those tactics;
then the next day her right arm, Carter, was grilled by Ezra, and admitted it was a PC poll with no party ID given....

(if the person said they were voting Wildrose, the caller gave them misinformation about the party positions)

  14. Just mailed my first ever donation to a political party, WRA.
Got a weird response from a lady today who is supporting a PC lawn sign, but will vote WRA. She feels redford will win and the pc guy would be more supportive of our area. I asked, what if she loses and he ends up in opposition, what could he do that the WRA guy wouldn't do in opposition. She never thought of that. Also asked her if she knew redford was denied citizenship in S. Africa and she said WHAT.
I predict on April 23 we will get a small minority pc govt or a huge majority WRA. Edmonton might elect some more liberals with a vote split, but that just takes away from the PC. What is that mla going to do when he has always donated his committee money to charity. She wants it back.
Might see some candidates dropping out in the next few days, or if elected and kicked out of caucus, cross the floor to another party.
