Liberal's Weak Mea Culpa

The Liberal apology yesterday for a picture they put up on the official Liberal website depicting the assassination of our Prime Minister, The Right Honorable Stephen Harper was in my opinion, not a real apology.

"That one slipped by and should not have been posted," a senior Liberal official said.

Later yesterday, the party took down "certain images that may have been offensive to some viewers" and is now reviewing entries before posting them online. "We apologize for any offence these images may have caused," the party's Web staff said in an online notice."

Not good enough, no mention it was wrong to depicit the leader of our country in such a way. No apology directed toward the PM personally. No mention that who ever is responsible for posted it on the website will be dealt with and it will not happen again.

The Leader of the Liberal Party, Michael Ignatieff needs to make a public apology to the Prime Minister in public. The buck stops with the leader. He is ultimately responsible for what takes place with operatives in his party just like Stephen Harper is responsible and Jack Layton is responsible.

Looks like he's not.

"It's a really, really bad slip on our side and we're fully aware and apologize for it," adds Lague.

But he says Michael Ignatieff won't be apologizing to Prime Minister Stephen Harper because the pictures had nothing to do with the Liberal leader.

Iffy step up to the plate and take responsiblity. PM Harper did last year when his war room put up the puffin' poop pic that was tasteless. He even fired someone in the war room over it.

Btw, I thought with arrival of Peter Donolo, Liberals were going to finally get some adult supervision. Hasn't worked out so wonderful with this latest disgusting act.

Another good reason why Liberals are not fit to govern.

  1. What are you talking about Harper stepped to the plate. He sees a plate and runs.

The photo of Dion with bullet holes and gunshot sounds is still on the Conservative.ca website and Harper has never apologized for that. In fact, the opposite. The PMO has actually defended the suggestion that Dion should be shot.

  2. Excuse me Ted Betts, the photo of Dion were not bullet holes but paper pencil holes that spoke of the holes in Dion's policies.
Uh and as far as being still on the Conservative website, well I just checked. It is not there. I couldn't find it anywhere.

Also speaking of principles, this from Iffy himself,

"May 24, 2009: "... [Ignatieff] criticized Harper for what he called the 'politics of personal attack,' and the 'politics of take no prisoners, leave 'em for dead on the side of the road. We don't do that kind of politics in the Liberal party.'" — Canwest News Service

You don't seriously expect people to buy that crap about "paper" holes with the gunshot sounds that accompany it do you?

They moved it from their front pages when Dion was removed as leader. Here is the still from the subpage which no longer has the sound effects or links.

  4. Holes in paper = holes in our PM.

Is that new Liberal math Ted?

  5. Ted, in that so called subpage you have linked which is still not on the current site anywhere, look carefully, it shows examples of holes in the Dion plan from his own members.
So there you go, those so called bullet holes represent holes in that policy.

Anony, couldn't have said it better.

  6. Very weak Ted. The Conservatives are punching holes in Dions policies. Not assassinating him.
What about the "American-Karl Rove-Republican" hyperbole we usually hear from liberals when describing conservative ads.
Its time liberals got off the high horse and realize that they need to look in the mirror.
At least Harper apologized for the tasteless puffin poop ad.
Ignatieff is silent over a cartoon that promotes murder. Unbelievable.

  7. Pencil holes. Riiiiiight.

Um, folks, if these are only "pencil holes" (nudge nudge wink wink) then why did they add the gun shot sound effect or draw a gun in Ignatieff's hand?

Weren't you the same folks saying the opposition were showing signs of desperation by jumping from faux scandal and outrage to faux scandal and outrage instead of addressing issues that mattered to Canadians?

  8. Tjeerd:

Harper who has personally accused individual Liberals of being tied to the mob (Martin), terrorist supporters (Bains), supporting child pornography (Duceppe, Martin), hate Israel (Dion, Ignatieff, Rae (!), Dryden, Bryson...) etc etc etc etc... is the very last person in Canada anyone could say is standing on a higher moral ground than anyone else.

  9. Liberals: We have NO principles.

Ted, are you claiming that "bullet" holes through some paper (Dion's Greenshift election platform) is somehow equal to bullet holes in a person?

  10. What Conservatives were outraged and desperate about in opposition was finding answers to Adscam. That was NOT faux. Liberals did steal our money. That was and still is an issue that mattered to Canadians.

Ted, I think with all your comments here, you are the one showing desperation.

    Have a Merry Christmas.
