Provincial Sales Tax, In Alberta?

This PC government has to go!  It seems everything they're doing,they screw things up even with with a new Premier and cabinet.

A little more than a month since the leadership contest has gone by and we've seen blunder after blunder. Not that there weren't any blunders before, there certainly were, there were plenty but it certainly makes you miss steady Eddy Stelmach.

From flip flopping on when to call the Ledge back to  Premier Mom,Alison Redford's seeing no need to fight for the  Keystone XL pipeline, now her Finance Minister is musing about a provincial sales tax.

Finance Minister Ron Liepert  seems to think Albertans are open to a sales tax   Liepert was a disaster as Health and Wellness Minister, it looks like he's aiming to be a disaster as Finance Minister too.

 Liepert says the idea of a new provincial sales tax — long considered a politically toxic subject in Alberta — came up repeatedly during recent roundtable consultations with taxpayers.

Which Albertans was he talking to? Not this Albertan that's for sure!  And not any other Albertan I know either!  The idea of a PST is NOT a popular idea at all with Albertans so I don't know where he gets that from..

Why Won't Our Premier Mom,Alison Redford Stand Up for Keystone XL Pipeline?

What is  Premier Mom, Alison Redford thinking?  She's going to Washington but she's not going to make a push for the Keystone XL Pipeline, an important project that would be good for our oilsands and the Canadian economy creating thousands of jobs.  It would also be good for the struggling US economy too creating thousands of jobs for Americans too.

It's time for her to stand up for the pipeline especially now that there has been setbacks with US State Dept. conducting a review.  She doesn't even think it's her job, according to Wildrose.

As Premier, she has said very little about this issue to date. Now we hear she doesn’t even think it’s her job to convince decision makers about why it should be built. It’s absolutely her job.”

On another note: Premier Mom,Alison Redford is announcing today, that she is appointing former Calgary Mayor and failed federal Liberal candidate, Dave Bronconnier as our new envoy to Washington DC,leadership rival Gary Mar's old job.  What the.....????

Another Flip Flop by Premier Alison Redford

 

 Alison Redford campaigned on a promise to conduct a judicial inquiry into political coercesion in the health care system.  Now it seems she's having second thoughts.   Instead she said she's going to beef up the Health Council could investigate as well as full inquiry would do.

The opposition is not happy..  ND leader Brian Mason said,

“In no way can you make the assertion that the health quality council will ever have the independence it needs in order to get to the bottom of this, and it should get to the bottom of this,” said NDP Leader Brian Mason, suggesting the council is too linked with top health officials

Wildrose leader Danielle Smith says this represents a broken promise.

Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith said Redford’s comments represent a broken promise. She said even a beefed up health quality council likely won’t be enough to convince health “I think they want to see Ms. Redford keep her promise for an independent judicial inquiry, to provide that safe environment for them to come forward knowing they’re not going to be bullied or punished for it.”professionals to come forward to testify about episodes of alleged coercion.

Newly minted Liberal leader Raj Sherman also weighed in,

“She has flip-flopped, she is ducking and hiding. Albertans need answers. Unless somebody is held accountable and ample evidence is brought forward, we’re not going to get to the truth.”

Not even a month since her election as leader, she's flipped flopped on holding a fall session of the legislature, transmission lines, now waffling on the judicial inquiry.  What's next?  How can we trust her?

She was going to represent change. Do things differently.  It looks like the same old,same old to me!
