The Coalition, Media Vipers Brood

I have refrained from commenting on this but I can't hold back anymore. This whole week the coalition and the media have been attacking CIDA Minister Bev Oda.  The yelling and screaming from the coalition and the over the top personal smears from the media at Ms. Oda has become almost unbearable.

Turning down funding for KAIROS, a left wing faith based organization who are actually activists was the right thing to do.  The process?  Not actually pretty but the personal smears and outrage coming from the coalition and the media are uncalled for and sickening.  I have never seen anything like this before. I thought there was a call for civility but the hate and venom coming from this vipers brood is anything but civil.

What's with the attacks on Conservative women anyway?  I don't understand it. In the States the hate for Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, etc. Here there was first Lisa Raitt, Rona Ambrose, Helena Guergis, now Bev Oda.  There never were attacks like this on Liberal women.  Why the double standard?  It's nothing but spite and hate. It's amazing that any conservative women would put their names forward for office.

This  controversy seemed to come up as three polls that came out stating the Conservative support was surging and the Liberal support was tanking. What Bev did happened two years ago why does it come up now?  Coincidence or  something sinister and calculated by the coalition, the pollsters and their media friends?   One has to wonder. Something evil is a foot.  It's no secret that coalition and the media hate PM Harper and his government and want them out.  They will do anything at the detriment of reputations and the country. They don't care!  I don't trust any of them anymore.

I grieve for my country at this time. There are so many more important issues that need to be dealt with and this is what is happening right now. It''s sad and pathetic.  It has gotten so out of control in my opinion that the only way I see for things to change is through divine intervention. That's why we must pray for Bev Oda and the PM. Pray that they may find strength and wisdom to deal with this this situation. Pray that the coalition and the media back off the personal smears and start to deal with issues that really matter to Canadians for a change.

I recommend to you  some excellent commentary  on this is matter from Bluelikeyou, Crux of the Matter, and The Iceman
Update: (h/t to MaryT) A great post today by Steve Janke too.

  1. Thank you for your comments, it is a sin apparently to defund a group that works against Canadian intrests.
I applaud Minister Oda for her decision to defund Kairos.
I am proud that PM Harper has her back.
Liberals just love to pile on Conservative Woman MP's.
Disgraceful, misogynist behavior, by the Liberals and the Media. Too bad they can't find something constructive to do that would benefit Canadians.
    Cheers Bubba

  2. Janke has a great post today also.
IMHO the reason the liberals and media go after conservative women and cabinet ministers is because they are so far above any they elect or put in a ministers job.
Has any conservative female minister stomped on a Presidents head/doll or said I hate all those bastards. And what did that get Parish except defeated, and no pile on in the media.

  3. I'm seriously considering praying. I don't know if anyone is listening but I'll try anyhting at this point.

2 years eh? I didn't know that part and you are right. It smells bad. Let them bring down the house over it. I've had enough. Majority or bust.

Thank you Alex. I hope more decide to do the same. There certainly is power in prayer especially when two or more are in agreement and God DOES definitely answer prayer. We have to keep it up until though this kerfuffle is resolved. We also must not lose faith,we must believe.

I am too! She did the right thing in cutting that funding. There needs to be more cuts in CIDA as far as I'm concerned. I think we should email both of them with our support. They need to know there is at least someone is behind them.

  7. The Harper haters don't like his style, but he's not going to change, no matter how much they bleat. He is going to deal with Oda (if at all), in his own way, on his own timetable.

Look at some of the precedents ... he demoted Ministers Gordon O'Connor and Gary Lunn, stuck with and nurtured along Rona Ambrose to a higher posting, got rid of Maxime Bernier and Helena Guergis--each case is obviously unique. There are many considerations for Harper to weigh (which he rightly won't tell anybody). In the end, you trust his judgement, or you don't.

The Opps are again over-playing a weak hand. Process issues involving the beauracracy are hard to explain, and won't resonate with normal voters. If anything, this gang-up on Oda will backfire, and she will get sympathy from more than just Conservative women who post here, and are rightly outraged at the media's double standard.

  8. Don't forget Dr. Bennett's insults to all stay home mothers.

The media feel that coasting through the liberals corruption years without so much of a peep from them hate the PM in particulary for disrupting their 'hidden agenda by he binding together to form a conservative party to later disrupt the media's and lpoc secret plans.

Had the PM not made that attempt forming a Conservative party, canadians will still be walking in a 'blase' land thinking all is well in the liberal government when in truth all the while they were stealing from us.

It is the PM they hate the most and he knows it and so do we.

The liberals are attacking ODA for cutting funding to their pet peeve groups, for instance: the HAMAS.

The Kairos decision is old - the media and opposition have been sitting on this document mishap for over a year - its a clerical error and nothing more. who cares? nobody except a desperate opposition and a left wing media. Bev Oda is a very good cabinet minister who should be given a promotion.

  11. Great post frmgrl, this co-ordinated smear of a Conservative woman Cabinet Minister by the coalition and the media has been nothing short of repulsive. The coalition/medias lust for power is truly nauseating.

Instead being condemned she should be commended. She's saved us some money unlike the Libs who they stole our money.
