Should Canada Pull Out of The UN?

Larry Miller,Conservative MP thinks we should reconsider our membership in the UN.

He has written a letter to Foreign Minister John Baird. to consider pulling out.

The UN has become nothing but a corrupt organization that favors dictators and despots.  Look who they appointed as "Tourism Ambassador" none other than Robert Mugabe  Thankfully Canada pulled out of that body.

Then they have the gall to send a condescending bureaucrat to slam us on our food supply.   What about North Korea or Africa?   People are starving in those countries.

Do you know who is currently on the UN Human Rights Council?  China,Cuba, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia. Yup they are bastions of human rights, right? Don't think so.

This committee tells us we must "redress" the little murdering terrorist Omar Khadr?   Give me a break!  What about the Speer family that was left without a husband and father, shouldn't they be compensated?

Let's not forget the IPCC on climate change. That is all about the distribution of wealth not about climate.

Kelly Mcparland argues that while the UN is "lousy" organization, now is not the time to pull out.
A central argument for closing the talking-shop in New York would be to reduce delays in international action. But delay is often a desirable thing, and haste often just a means of making bad situations worse. For Canada to pull out would only eliminate the opportunity for Ottawa to exert influence on affairs that would impact us. Gathering up our papers and stomping off home, emotionally satisfying as it might be, would only work to our detriment in the end, and remove Canada as a voice of reason in an often unreasonable international forum.

  1. A NEW, WESTERN DEMOCRACIES ONLY ORGANIZATION

The UN is an ideologically divided, far left promoting, anti-free enterprise institute with a new majority led by totalitarian Russia, and autocratic China but consisting of despotic countries that once made up the Marxist Soviet Union, Islamic countries with their Sharia law, and dictatorial African countries.

The UN new majority countries, for the most part, promote big nanny state statistism, inequality, anti-free enterprise practices, and are frequently lawless. As a group they guarantee that nothing of any worth to western democracies can be expedited. The “western”, wealthy democracies provide the UN with the vast majority of its funding, however, they have very little influence within the far-left promoting, ineffective, unproductive organization which waste hundreds of billions of otherwise useful dollars.

For years many political scientist from the “west” have been promoting a new world organization created by, and only consisting of western democracies who promote freedom of the individual, rule of law, free enterprise, and equality. This new organization would be funded by funds currently consumed (wasted) by the UN.

  2. Kelly MacFarland has adopted the fatalistic inevitability of the power of the UN. This is simply not true. The Commonwealth Nations provide a blueprint to the future. One does not have to leave the UN to leave it.
There is nothing preventing western nations from forming a parallel organization with standards for entry and perhaps over time challenge the UN's legitimacy as the world's voice.
The problem with the UN is the adherence to a doctrine of moral relativism that results in nations like Iran sitting on the Human Rights Commission and Robert Mugabe the poster boy for tourism.
The UN is structured on a socialist model and is incompatible with free democracies.
Time to pack the bagS and keep them by the door.

  5. May I simply say what a relief to discover a person that truly knows what they
are discussing on the net. You actually understand how to bring an issue to light and make it important.
More and more people should read this and understand this side of
the story. I was surprised you are not more popular given that you most certainly have the
    gift.

  6. I leave a response each time I especially enjoy a post on a site or I have something to valuable to contribute to the discussion.
Usually it's triggered by the sincerness displayed in the article I read. And after this post "Should Canada Pull Out of The UN?". I was actually moved enough to drop a thought :-P I actually do have 2 questions for you if you usually do not mind. Is it simply me or does it appear like a few of the responses come across as if they are written by brain dead folks? :-P And, if you are posting at other social sites, I would like to keep up with you. Could you list the complete urls of your shared pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
