Why All These Riots Around the World?

Is this what the world is coming too?   The world seems to be on fire!
Hat Tip to a poster at Calgary Puck forum for a comparison between the Vancouver riot  the other night with riots in Egypt,Libya,and Somalia.  Take a look.  They look pretty similar to me.

Then you have the riots in Greece.over austerity measures.



All this violence has made me think, why all these riots around the world?. The world it seems is becoming a more violent place. The violence seems to be coming at the hands of younger people but why so much more  now than just a few years ago?

I'm going to take a guess.. Not that I'm criticizing all youth, their are some kids out there that are pretty decent kids.Those kids though being mostly more conservatively minded have a really hard time with their profs and their more left wing peers. 

Here it goes, here's my take.  There has been a gradual erosion of a  sense of right and wrong over the years  The youth have lost respect for their fellow man and property  They've grown up with a sense of entitlement without responsibility  and have been brainwashed by left wing teachers and professors.  They simply are detached from the real world.

They spend most of their time online using facebook and twitter which can further disenfranchise them from the real world spending less and less time with their families and doing other things.

  It's time for parents to take charge of their kids again and teach them some  good old fashioned common sense, responsibility. respect and make sure they know the difference between right and wrong.

Vancouver In Chaos

Last night the after the last game of the Stanley Cup series where the Boston Bruins won 4-0  upset with the loss of the Canucks, violence broke out on the streets Vancouver. Windows were smashed, cars set on fire, looting, stabbings.It's just a hockey game people!   It truly puts a black eye on the city. What a difference a year makes.  Compare Vancouver last year to now, it's like it's two different cities.

  Remember when  patriotism broke out on to Vancouver streets with flag waving,jubilation and  spontaneous singing of the national anthem, and no violence after the gold medal game last year?
I usually am a Calgary Flames fan.  I remember when the 2004 run the Flames made the finals, they lost, there was no violence on Calgary streets. 
Watching the video and looking at the photos reminds me of the G8 riots a year ago in Toronto.  One wonders if all that violence was  really caused by Canucks fans or was it just  a few trouble making  anarchist  young punks  who like to find opportunities in which to make trouble?   Despicable!

Makes me wonder what the youth are being taught these days.   Whatever it is,it ain't any good when these kind of things happen.

Another thing, you want to make a bet somebody will find a way to blame PM Stephen Harper for this?

Is Lizzy May's Following Her Constituents Wishes?

The Quebec Justice Minister made a quick trip to Ottawa yesterday to do some lobbying and it's not who you think.  Nope it wasn't Justice Minister Nicholson or anyone else in the government, it was Lizzy May.  He came to  persuade her to support the others in the passage of a mega-trial bill that the other parties want to pass with unanimous consent before the House rises for the summer break .  Unfortunately he was unsuccessful.

OTTAWA - Quebec's justice minister made a quick trip to Ottawa to lobby Green Leader Elizabeth May and, apparently, failed Tuesday to get her support for the instant adoption of a so-called "mega-trials" bill.
May continues to argue that the government's newest justice legislation needs serious study and should not be rushed.
Quebec was recently stunned when a judge allowed 31 suspected Hells Angels to go free, after the costly and complicated trial was plagued by delays.
The province's justice minister, Jean-Marc Fournier, urged May to help the federal bill get unanimous consent so that it might be fast-tracked through the House of Commons.
But the Green party issued a statement later in the day saying it would not be pressured into moving quicker.

The NDP have been working with the Conservatives on this and has given  assurance as have the Liberals and the Bloc MPs that it would get unanimous speedy passage..

May pulled this trick  too with the motion to extend the mission in Libya.  She was the only descender.

The NDP and Liberals voted in favour of the extension after securing several additional amendments to the motion that would see Canada remain in Libya until September — another 3 1/2 months. Green Party leader Elizabeth May was the lone MP to vote against the motion.

Wow, four years of this! Is she following her constituents wishes?  I guess it's a way to get some media attention.  Otherwise sitting in the back corner beside the four Bloc members she wouldn't get the time of day,  because they aren't.   Heck even the Liberals aren't getting very much air and print time these days.

Maybe May should  make sure what her constituents want and educate herself on other issues besides global warming hoax.

Will Jack Layton Be Able to Soldify His Gains?

While the NDP are basking in the glow of their big historic electoral advances over a month ago and are gearing up for their 50th anniversary and convention later this week

They are now the official opposition are whether we want to acknowledge it or not is "a government in waiting"  They are keeping their rookies on a short leash in hopes of solidifying their huge gains. 

Will the NDP be able to  firm up those big gains or are they just a phase in Quebec that will pass?  I don't know, but who knows? .As we all know those folks tend to be fickle. In order to overtake the Conservatives they have to make huge gains in other parts of the country besides Quebec. 

  Another difficulty for Jack to win the big prize is, it seems the country is moving away from wanting  big government  to  come in and solve our every problem.  NDP believe big government should solve every problem in our lives. They would have to move some what  to the right that's for sure.


Jack  also has a caucus conundrum. He has to perform a juggling act.  He has to keep his Quebec caucus happy which is very possible would  tick off his Western caucus  and vise versa at the same time babysitting his daycare caucus.

 Monte Solberg cautions us  that four years from now if the Conservatives really mess up it's a remote possibility you could very well see Jack and Olivia move from Stornoway into 24 Sussex. and take an axe to our economy.

So, we nervously settle on the belief there’s no way in a billion years the NDP could ever be government, and I use “billion years” advisedly because I don’t want to be accused of exaggeration.
But the NDP did make big gains last time because those notoriously sophisticated Quebec voters carefully examined the issues, got to really know the NDP candidates and after deep reflection, voted them in en masse.
As an aside, I note that right after the election the Quebec government fretted publicly that Quebec might be losing its influence in Ottawa. Obviously we all pray it isn’t so, but if it is so, what shocking development could have caused that waning of influence?

 If the Conservatives don’t keep the economy on track, the door opens a crack to the axe-wielding loon who lives below, though to be fair he’s an economic axe murderer with a social conscience.

 Should we take them seriously though? Yeah, I think so. Absolutely nothing should be take for granted.  Stranger things have happened. They have some very dangerous socialist policies and by a fluke come next election, they could take the reins of power and implement that agenda.   At the least we should watch them very closely. 

A Shift Towards Conservatism in Canada

The Manning Center for Building Democracy  in their annual survey says Canadians are starting to embrace conservatism.   It was conducted just right after the election that resulted in PM Stephen Harper and the Conservatives in winning a majority government.

"The ideological 'centre' in Canada has shifted to a new conservative ideology."
The poll also looks at how Canadians' attitudes align -- or not -- with typical 'small-c' conservative values and policies.
According to the Manning Centre's interpretation, not only are Canadians becoming more conservative, they also want their government to move away from pursuing grand visions and designs for society, and focus on the issues of the day.
Canadians, it appears, increasingly would like to take care of themselves. Of those surveyed, 67% said they believed government should get smaller, and 65% believe governments shouldn't try to anticipate and act on challenges of the future, but rather spend more time and energy managing the problems of today.
"Traditionally, Canadians were very, very deferential towards elites and looked to government not simply as a broker of the public good but a provider of the public good," said Allan Gregg, chairman of the polling firm Harris-Decima that conducted the survey.

It's just proves that big government ideas that was started under the  Pierre Trudeau Liberals hasn't worked.  May 2nd elections results play that out. Liberals are now  the third party.

That's  good news for conservatives. The party who will take this report  to heart and present conservative ideas  will gain the public's support.  Hopefully, the Harper government will do more conservative things.
